Canadian Seed Companies 2026

Seed ordering is happening earlier and earlier each year, with many gardeners now ordering their seeds as early as November-December.

Gardening boomed during the pandemic and many seed houses ran out of seeds, greenhouses ran out of plants. It was crazy. In a good way! So great to see more people growing their own foods (especially) and flowers.

It changed the whole seed ordering industry, meaning that you should get your seed orders in earlier rather than later to avoid sell outs. Especially with small seed farms that sell out in a day or two.

That said…. if you find that the seeds you wanted have sold out, it gives you a perfect opportunity to try something new. The same flower or veggie, but a different variety. Or perhaps something completely different. Try new things, you never know when you will find a new favourite. Many companies will have a restock later in the year, too.
