Sunday Potager Ramblings #57 -(Plans Gone Awry)

Well… my weekend did not quite go as planned because this happened on Friday. We woke up to about 4 inches of fluffy, light snow, and more falling.

A residential front yard view with landscaped shrubs, a stone pathway, and two houses in the background, one blue and one beige.
We were just out watering the front yard a few days ago.

However, I was not worried. The weather lady said we would have plus degrees, maybe even double digits on Sunday. This did not happen. Well, we did get plus degree weather, but just enough to turn the snow hard, crunch, slippery, and dangerous.

I was supposed to gather wreath making materials from the yard, dress up the front entrance for the holidays, hang up my birdseed wreaths for the birdies, and plant my carrots/lettuces/spinach for early spring crops.

Instead, I am now waiting for better weather. Let’s see what mother nature brings our way ; )

Gift Ideas…

  • Bar Soap | Alberta Natural Products – for the best bar soaps, and most affordable, these lovely soaps are perfect for gifting. These are the soaps that they sell at the Country Grocer on the island, in the wooden bins. Anytime a family member goes to the island, I send them with money to buy me a bunch of them. Now, I can order them on-line, too!
  • Sourdough Starter | ORGANIC | Dehydrated – great gift for the baker, the gourmand, the chefs in your circle.

I like to keep my front entry special and festive, yet pretty simple. There will be a garland, like you see above, there will be a porch sign, a wreath, a festive mat that will be layered on top of a larger colourful mat. It is simple, but pretty and festive.

Each year, I look forward to making my own holiday wreath so this weekend is when I will harvest the greens and bits and bobs…. while the weather is fine.

I tend to keep my wreath pretty simple (check out some of the wreaths from years past in the photos) but I saw the most amazing wreath on insta yesterday. She has me thinking! I may be going much wilder and bigger this year.
